Elemental Energy’s 17MW DC Solar Farm in Brooks | Alberta

In summer 2017 we had a privilege to participate in the construction of the largest utility-scale solar farm in Alberta and Western Canada. As a result of intensive 3 months of work in Brooks Alberta we laid out, pre-drilled and installed 5398 driven piles. We managed to hire, train and complete our project scope with mostly local labour from Brooks. Thanks to our great local team we reach substantial completion in the beginning of September 2017, ahead of the schedule. This project was a great example of Solar Plantation approach to optimizing the processes and maximizing the installation efficiencies. The scale of the project is unique for Western Canada. We expect that Alberta’s Renewable Electricity Program will support many more large scale ground-mounted solar farms in the Southern Alberta in the near future. Special thanks to the Owner of of the project Elemental Energy and EPC contractor Borea Construction for choosing us to be a part of the project.

92KW solar power system in Burdett | Alberta

As a part of our work trip to the Lethbridge region, Solar Plantation completed this 92KW solar project in summer 2016. This one was one of the three projects completed. Schletter Canada managed to manufacture and ship all materials before the originally scheduled date. At this site, we managed to install 75 meter long rows of racking, all in one long line. FS System racking allowed for adjustments to ensure PV modules alignment. All projects on this trip were completed ahead of schedule.

Solar Plantation scope of work included: soil sampling, engineering, site layout, pile-driving, and racking installation. The project is completed under the Alberta Growing Forward program, ENMAX funding and in a partnership with Solar Optix.

54KW solar power system in Ferintosh | Alberta

Under Alberta Growing Forward Solar program we completed turn-key installation of 54KW ground-mount solar that supplies power to a chicken barn. The system also serves as a privacy fence between county road and the chicken barn. The interconnection of this solar system required transformer upgrade to a larger size.

Solar Plantation scope of work included: soil sampling, engineering, site layout, procurement of piles and racking, pile-driving, racking installation, PV modules mounting. The project is completed in a partnership with Dandelion Renewables.

45KW solar power system in Grassy Lake | Alberta

As a part of our work trip to Lethbridge region Solar Plantation completed this 45KW solar project in summer 2016. This one was one of the three project completed. Schletter Canada managed to manufacture and ship all materials before originally scheduled date. One of the challenges that we successfully overcame was locating underground high-pressure plastic irrigation pipes. We proved that an old farm method using wire hangers or metal marking flags works great – no irrigation pipes where damaged! All projects in this trip were completed ahead of schedule.

16KW solar power system in Strome | Alberta

This small scale agricultural project was developed in two stages. Back in 2012 Solar Plantation build the first 10KW of that system. Later in 2016 the customer returned to us to expand the solar PV system by additional 6KW. This was one of the first projects where our team realized how fast and efficient driven-piles combined with Schletter FS System racking are.

400KW solar power system in Biggar | Saskatchewan

In the late fall 2016 Solar Plantation completed piling for this 400KW of solar in Saskatchewan on a very short notice. That allowed our customer to have foundation work done just before freezing cold temperatures prevailed. Subzero temperatures and dry conditions during installation helped to minimize the potential complexity of dealing with a dirt.

Solar Plantation scope of work included: soil sampling, site layout, pile-driving and splice installation. The project is completed under SaskPower Small Power Producer program and in a partnership with Grace Energy.
